His biotechnology/pharmaceutical work experience encompasses 17-years of research on metabolic and pharmacokinetic properties of compounds for drug discovery and development at Pfizer, GlaxoSmithKline and Amgen.
“Zhao,” as he is known by friends and colleagues, currently serves as Director of Preclinical at Amgen’s Research & Development site located in Cambridge, Massachusetts. He spent the last 3 years recruiting, establishing, and organizing the formation of the Pharmacokinetics & Drug Metabolism department and managing its preclinical support processes.
He has provided supervisory and hands-on expertise in drug metabolism and pharmacokinetic studies for discovery and development projects with experience in integration of in vitro and in vivo ADMET information to optimize drug candidate properties.
His accomplishment is documented via his contributions as lead and co-author of over forty patents and peer reviewed publications in the areas of new drug targets, drug metabolism, pharmacokinetics, and toxicology. He is currently serving as the 2008 APA Chair, Biotransformation.
